CPM — Cents per mile

A way of expressing the value obtained from an award redemption in cents for each mile used. In points-and-miles discussions, the abbreviation is CPM.

Informal terminology: This explanation is based on MilesTalk as its sole reference. Other travel communities may use it differently.

Also called: CPM

Illustrative example

Illustrative comparison, not a live fare: a New York (JFK) to London Heathrow (LHR) ticket valued at $1,000 for this example is redeemed for 50,000 miles. Dividing 100,000 cents by 50,000 miles gives 2 cents per mile. This simplified example assumes no additional cash charges.
