Codeshare
An arrangement in which a flight is marketed under one airline’s name and flight code but operated by another airline.
Illustrative example
Example booking scenario, not a verified flight: imagine a New York (JFK) to London Heathrow (LHR) itinerary with an American Airlines flight code and the words operated by British Airways. This illustrates one codeshare flight, not two separate flights.
Context
The marketing carrier’s identity and flight code appear on the marketed flight; the operating carrier actually operates it.
