Points-transfer partner

A participating loyalty program to which a rewards program allows points or miles to be transferred. For air awards, the receiving airline program is the transfer partner.

Also called: transfer partner

Illustrative example

Illustrative example: a traveler planning a Minneapolis (MSP) to Paris (CDG) award moves eligible card rewards into an airline loyalty account and then books through that airline program. The airline program receiving the rewards is the transfer partner; this is different from paying for a flight directly with card rewards.
