InfoViaggioAmerican miles, partner flights: how the search fits together
The airline operating a flight and the program used to book it can be different.
One search can include multiple airlines
American’s award-travel help page says partner flights appear in its award-search results, with airline filters on the flight-selection page. A search using AAdvantage miles therefore does not mean every displayed flight is operated by American. Source: American Airlines — Using miles for travel
An award chart is not a seat confirmation
American describes its partner-chart figures as estimated starting values for one-way travel, with route-specific conditions. Its partner list includes Qatar Airways. That explains why a question about American miles and a Qatar flight makes sense, but it does not establish that a particular flight or cabin is available.
